Angry Birds Activity Parks Going Global

With the huge success of Rovio’s games including the most recent – Angry Birds Space the game developer is now close to launching activity parks worldwide with plenty of media now available on the internet showing off the new parks rides and looks. You can take a look at a classic example in the above video.

The first theme park has already launched in Finland but this is not to be mistaken for the general activity parks that will be launched around the globe – this in fact part of part of an existing Finnish adventure world and is known as Angry Birds World. Whether there will also be more theme parks on a grander scale remains to be seen but for now you can expect to find activity parks for kids and adults alike popping up all across the world. China apparently is also on the cards for a large deployment of such parks.

Angry Birds Theme Park Open in Finland – Sarkanniemi

The first Angry Birds theme park has opened in Sarkanniemi Adventure Park in Finland with 12 rides, games and an adventure course. The official opening of the park which includes a celebration is on the 8th of June 2012.

The first official Angry Birds Theme park (Angry Birds Land) to be found anywhere in the world will open in Finland in Summer 2012 and will provide an interactive entertainment experience for kids and adults alike.

The theme park will be a section of an existing theme park in Tampere known as Särkänniemi Adventure Park and will features lots of rides and a magical gaming centre with interactive challenges based around Angry Birds. The physical and virtual world will blend into one as fans will be treated to a futuristic combo of the game’s concepts and it’s characters whilst motivating all participants to get up and exercise!

A sneak peak of the planned rides and games will appear shortly on Särkänniemi Adventure Park Website in Spring this year and we will also keep you folks up to date here of the latest news.

There is no word as to when the first theme park will open in the USA or UK but once we here anything we will keep you guys informed.

Angry Birds Activity Parks Coming to the UK

Angry Birds activity parks will be launching in the UK sometime next year but the locations and dates of their launch have yet to be announced. We will be keeping you up to date with the locations and what exactly each park will feature in the coming months.

Currently there are around 20 products that have been designed including:

Animal spring riders
Swings
Sandpits
A range of climbing towers with slides (like the one pictured above)
Rope swings (like the one pictured below)

Activity park manufacturer Lappset Group have teamed up with Rovio Entertainment Ltd to produce the parks with parks also opening in Finland in the cities of Rovaniemi and Espoo in 2012. Espoo has signed an agreement to allow 5 angry birds activity parks to be built in the city.

They have also designed complete ready made activity parks which are ready to install at new locations.

Chief marketing officer Peter Vesterbacka said:

“The activity parks tie in perfectly with the Angry Birds world and our way of thinking”.

“We will be developing a service which brings together the digital world and the physical world in a way that’s never been seen before. The popularity of Angry Birds isn’t restricted to any age, sex or social group, and the activity parks will be designed to be interesting places for absolutely everyone, all around the world.”

Angry Birds Slingshot Attraction: Changsha – Hunan Province – China

Location: Changsha, Hunan Province, China
Description: Pull a giant slingshot back and fire a cuddly bird at a nearby giant tower mimicked on the mobile game. The concept is pretty much the same but according to fans who have tried the attraction it’s very difficult to knock the tower down where the pigs are hiding. Actually much more difficult than in the actual mobile game itself!

The angry birds slingshot attraction at this theme park opened on the 1st September 2011 in Changsha, a city in the Hunan Province of China without the permission of Rovio Entertainment Ltd in Finland. However that hasn’t stopped the attraction becoming very successful. You can watch a video of the attraction below.
